First of all, protect the existing:

• Keep the beaches and shallows clean. Don't be ashamed to clean someone else's litter. There is always a chance that others will join you, and 'litter-bugs' in the area are bound to get the message.
• Protect the corals. When you dive, you may accidentally brush the coral with your fins or body. It will take many years for the coral to regenerate itself.
• Don't raise dust clouds into the water column. Turbidity is very destructive to corals.
• Report any injury or impact to the authorities.
• Cooperate with whoever is doing something about the situation. Don't wait for others to do it instead - what if everyone waited for someone else to act??

Secondly, do what you can to remedy the situation:

• As election day approaches, everyone will be after your vote. Don't give it easily! Make sure you vote for the candidate who either backed his claims with facts and evidence of past action, or with a convincing action plan for the future.
• Initiate public activities for coastal nature protection and conservation, such as adoption of certain stretches of the beach, volunteer programs for cleaning of UW litter, involvement in local committees that deal with environmental issues.

And if you happen to be a teacher:

• The children under your supervision are those who will enjoy the fruits of environmental conservation - or suffer from lack of it. Today they may be influenced and molded - don't let them down.

Or working in a diving club:

• A clean sea which contains the natural beauty and bio-diversity are the best advertisement for your business. Be involved in environmental activities and don't be ashamed to let everyone to hear about it.
• Adopt a coast or stretch of coral reef and invest the necessary resources to maintain them in good condition.
• Do all you can to prevent irresponsible or indifferent operators damage or litter the area.

And if you are a local or national politician:

• No argument is better accepted than the case for environmental quality. Focus on an environmental issue you can identify with and advance in terms in planning, funding or materializing. Make sure your action agrees with your principles and not merely agrees with the consensus or the "political correct".

And if you happen to be an entrepeneur:

• Your deeds and misdeeds may remain with us for years to come, after you are long gone. Don't make us loath your actions.
• Don't rob us of the beached and the sea, don't build concrete monsters, leave something behind for future generations.
