אלמוג גוש, שזרועות הפוליפים שלו פתוחים בשעות היום, ומכסים על השלד. מספר הזרועות
תמיד גדול מ-12, לרוב 24*. לפחות 10 מינים ידועים מאזורנו. 
ההבחנה בין המינים היא על פי גודל הפוליפ, ומבנה הגביע הגירי, והיא למומחים בעיקר
Massive, branching or encrusting .Corallites are very small (to 2mm diameter), only 2 septal cycles developed
Colony surfaces of massive colonies have irregular umps distinctive to this genus and form helmet-shaped colonies
The smooth and solid appearance of the colony surface is due to the dense arrangement and small size of corallites
and the crowded, granulated skeletal structure inside the corallites

Only species reported or expected in our region. For full key, be advised to use the original key: p. 447-459
B  species recorded from North Red Sea and/or reported from Eilat and/or Aqaba whose identity is uncertain
