Echinophyllia 
Colonies are encrusting, laminar or foliaceous
Corallites variable, with walls ranging from absent in immersed corallites to
well developed in tubular corallites, directed upwards or not strongly inclined
Septa exsert even when corallite walls are absent or poorly developed
Columellae well developed
Dentations coarse, often prominent, giving setpo-costae a spiky appearance
Pits occur at the intersection of septo-costae, intercostal slits asbent
